October 10, 2025

Dear students, &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

While we are glad to see that the negotiations between the physician federations and government will resume on Monday, unfortunately the FMSQ pressure tactics remain in place.  Therefore, we need to plan for a fifth week of contingency measures, starting October 14.

We understand how challenging the uncertainty of the current situation remains and appreciate your continued flexibility and patience. Thank you for staying engaged and adaptable during this time.

What we’ve done / What we plan to do

This week, we have: &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

  • communicated with students via email and met with student leadership from each campus
  • conducted a townhall for Med-3 and Med-4
  • Informed Med-3 students about their completion status for the following courses: IM, surgery, and psychiatry
  • planned contingency measures for week five of the FMSQ pressure tactics, as well as a plan to return to clinical settings should the pressure tactics be lifted
  • continued advocating for visiting electives and considerations for CaRMS &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

 Next week, we will be: &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

  • completing the review of block 1 data (logs, EPAs, clerkship form data) for pediatrics and obstetrics & gynecology
  • planning contingency measures in the case of a sixth week of pressure tactics as well as a plan for the return to clinical settings should the pressure tactics be lifted
  • communicating with students either via email or town hall meetings &²Ô²ú²õ±è;
  • participating in advocacy meetings &²Ô²ú²õ±è;
