Description
Have you ever wished that the key debates in your field weren't locked behind a paywall? This workshop introduces graduate students to writing for public聽venues,聽such as blogs, websites, magazines, and newspapers. We'll break down the process of pitching a story and examine the conventions of some of the most popular journalistic genres, including op eds, reviews, reported pieces, and personal essays. By the end of the workshop, you should feel empowered to leverage your research expertise to contribute to public conversations.

Facilitator
This workshop is led by Dr. Amanda Perry, who has a PhD in Comparative Literature from New York University. She teaches at Champlain College-Saint Lambert and Concordia University. In addition to publishing academic articles on Caribbean literature and history, she writes regularly for The Walrus and Literary Review of Canada. Her work has also appeared in聽The Globe and Mail聽and聽Maisonneuve.
