Professor Audrey Moores (Chemistry) awarded the Canadian Pacific Chair in Biotechnology

Congratulations to Professor Audrey Moores (Chemistry), who has been awarded the Canadian Pacific Chair in Biotechnology!

The Canadian Pacific Chair in Biotechnology is an endowed chair created in 1984 to promote research in the field of biotechnology. The chair is awarded for a five-year term and rotates among 9I制作厂免费's Faculties of Medicine, Science and Agriculture.

Prof. Moores, who鈥檚 also a co-lead of the Materials group of the 9I制作厂免费 Sustainability Systems Initiative (MSSI), is a leading expert in catalysis, focusing on metals, metal oxides and biomass-based nanomaterials, with an emphasis on sustainable processes and the use of earth-abundant starting materials.

"This chair will be a fantastic opportunity for my group to pursue our work on the development of solid state methods for the valorization of biomass," said Prof. Moores. "In the Canadian context, we want to deliver innovative solutions to turn waste from fisheries, forestry and agriculture into useful molecules and materials."
