PhD students are required to complete the following milestones. Additional details and links to forms can be found at the bottom of the page.

1. Register each semester. Please see section on听registration for full details
2. Review the Department of Psychiatry听 Letter of understanding听with your supervisor. This letter is designed to promote dialogue between the supervisor(s) and the graduate student, to define expectations, and to increase awareness of department and faculty policies and procedures.听Fill out the expectations section on pages 5 and 6, and sign on page 7. An in-person meeting is recommended but not required. Once signed, the letter can be uploaded directly to听. See听丑别谤别听for further instructions. Letters of understanding are due 30 days after the program starts.
3. By the end of your first semester, you must have constituted an advisory committee (see below) and submitted your first听Research Progress Tracking form.听This first progress tracking step is meant to ensure that the research objectives have been clearly outlined, and the form must only be signed by the student and supervisor (the advisory committee does not need to be present). Once signed, this form can be uploaded directly to听.听According to 9I制作厂免费鈥檚 Regulations on Graduate Student Supervision, the supervisory committee must be comprised of a minimum of three members, and consist听of at least one faculty member in addition to the supervisor.听
4. By the end of your first year in the program, you must hold an advisory committee (all members) meeting and then submit a听Research Progress Tracking form. You must also complete and submit the听 PhD Advisory Committee Form. Once signed, both听forms can be uploaded directly to听. Advisory committee meetings are mandatory, and must be held at the end of each year in the program.听All committee members of the advisory committee must attend these meetings.

   Students should submit their progress reports according to the following timelines:听

   • September admission: Objectives by December 31; Progress reports by August 31
   • January admission: Objectives by April 30, Progress reports by December 31
5. Advisory committee: This committee, selected together with the supervisor, will consist of the thesis supervisor and other professors who will advise the student about his/her research program. For PhD students, the committee will be composed of the supervisor and one other听Faculty member minimum. More members can be added. Please see the website for the most up-to-date rules on PhD committee composition.
6. All PhD students must complete a comprehensive exam by the end of their second year and register for the course PSYT 701:听Comprehensive Exam Mental Health. 听Please see the comprehensive exam section for more details.
7. Individual Development Plan (IDP) Milestone: The purpose of an IDP is to enable students to establish meaningful goals and create a strategy for how they will accomplish these goals. To听fulfill this requirement, students must attend an approved IDP workshop offered at 9I制作厂免费 or other bodies, create an Individual Development Plan, then fill out the to alert GPS and myPath that it has been completed. The planning document is for personal use and is not required to be submitted to the department. You can find more information on the myPath website.
