Biography:

Sophie Tseng Pellar recently completed her Bachelor of Science in Physiology at 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ and will be starting her Master’s in Surgical and Interventional Sciences at 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ in the fall.

She joined the 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ Office for Science and Society (OSS) in the summer of 2025, driven by a strong interest in science communication and a desire to combat health misinformation. At the OSS, she works to make evidence-based science more accessible to the public through articles and educational content. Her research interests focus on exercise physiology, bone health, and biomechanics. As part of her undergraduate honours project, she worked in the Musculoskeletal Health & Physical Activity Lab in the Department of Kinesiology, studying the effects of endurance exercise and protein supplementation on bone turnover.

In addition to her work with OSS, Sophie helps produce The Body of Evidence podcast and recently created a mini-series exploring topics in sports science. Outside of academics, she is a dedicated member of 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ’s Varsity Track and Field team and is passionate about maintaining an active lifestyle. In her free time, she enjoys climbing, hiking, and cooking.
