Call for Applications: Open Science Grassroots Committee Members

The Tanenbaum Open Science Institute (TOSI) is currently recruiting new members for The Neuro's Grassroots Committee (GRC). If you are interested in joining the committee, please send an email to tosi [at] mcgill.ca by September 23rd at 11:59 pm and include:听听听

We are currently recruiting for the following positions:听

  • PI: two spots available听

  • Postdoc: one spot available听

  • Research Assistant or Research Associate: one spot available听

About the GRC

The GRC encourages and promotes Open Science grassroots initiatives and research practices at The Neuro and beyond to advance knowledge and clinical care and the community's welfare.听

Members Commitment听听听

  • Commit to a 2-year term, with the possibility of renewal听听

  • Attend up to five GRC meetings a year听

  • Actively participate in discussions on existing and future open science initiatives led by TOSI听

  • Act as a liaison between TOSI and The Neuro鈥檚 research community听

  • Advise on areas where TOSI's funds and energy would have the greatest impact听

  • Evaluate Open Science grants and prizes applications as needed

GRC composition听

The GRC shall be composed of ten (10) members:听

  • Seven Principal Investigators (PIs) based at The Neuro, preferentially at different career stages听听

  • One trainee representative, who is also the Chair of the Trainee Council听听

  • One postdoc based at The Neuro听

  • One Research Associate or Research Assistant based at The Neuro听听

Equal gender representation should be achieved whenever possible. Diversity across different research groups is also encouraged.听听

Important dates听听

  • Call for applications: September 5th听听
  • Application deadline: September 23rd at 11:59 pm听
  • Announcement of the decision: End of September.听Candidates will be notified of the decision by e-mail.听听
  • GRC meetings: There will be five GRC meetings during the 2024-2025 cycle. GRC members are encouraged to attend as many meetings as possible.听听

Selection Process听

  • The TOSI team and the Chair of the GRC will choose from among the interested individuals.听

  • Candidates will be assessed based on career stage and area of expertise, given the current composition of the GRC.听听

  • Equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) will also play a role in the selection process.听
