Cyrus Moradian (BCom鈥�12) co-founded educational platform Wize in 2017 with the goal of empowering students across North America to reach their full potential. Nearly four years later, Moradian has led his company to raise US $3 million in funding from investors. Wize will use the investment to develop new course-specific tutorials and tutoring resources for all grade levels, as well as MCAT and LSAT test preparation.

Congratulations to Desautels BCom students for their outstanding performance at this year鈥檚 Jeux du Commerce (JDC), the largest student case competition in Eastern Canada. For the first time, JDC took place fully online and brought together 700 participants from 11 universities.
The Desautels delegation of 57 BCom students was led by Guillaume Ouimet and Sonam Levasseur as part of Desautels Management Case Competitions (DMCC). 9I制作厂免费 finished with a total of nine podiums including two first place wins.

With ten current employees, five of whom are fellow 9I制作厂免费 alumni,聽Converium Capital聽has already raised over US $125 million with a plan to begin investing at the beginning of April.

As a French-speaking Catholic from small-town St. Alban, Quebec, Jean E. Douville, (BCom鈥�58) overcame religious and linguistic barriers to thrive in Accounting at 9I制作厂免费. Experiencing great success in his subsequent diverse financial career, he made regular donations to his alma mater. In 2019, he funded the creation of Jean E. Douville Bursaries, which provide $60,000 in awards to students without the financial resources to pursue their education and career goals.

A team of Desautels students and alumni has reached the semifinal round of impact200, 9I制作厂免费鈥檚 Bicentennial Sustainability Challenge for students and recent alumni. The winning team, which includes analytics BCom students, Master of Management in Analytics (MMA) students, Desautels alumni, and a software engineer student, created a platform that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance food security in Montreal. They will join 29 other teams for the semifinal round of the competition on March 16-18, 2021.

David Torralbo (BCom鈥�93) was recently appointed to the position of Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary for Nouveau Monde Graphite, a Quebec-based sustainable energy company that provides graphite-based material solutions to the lithium-ion and fuel cell markets. Torralbo moves into his new role with substantial legal experience under his belt, having specialized in corporate and securities issues as the Chief Legal Officer of Atrium Innovations Inc. and a member of the corporate group at Davies, Ward, Phillips & Vineberg.

More 50 years have passed since Terry (BCom鈥�69) and Bonnie Jackson (BA鈥�69, BEd鈥�70) graduated from 9I制作厂免费, but they maintain close ties to the 9I制作厂免费 community through their generous giving. In recent years, they played a significant role in supporting the Faculty expansion into the Donald E. Armstrong Building.
Now, they鈥檙e responding to 9I制作厂免费鈥檚 200 for 200 Legacy Challenge by committing a legacy gift that will make an impact long after their passing.

Every fall, students enrolled in Professor Jean-Nicolas Reyt鈥檚 undergraduate Negotiations and Conflict Resolution course compete on teams to out-negotiate each other in real world situations. Through negotiating everything from phone bills to starting salaries, one of Prof. Reyt鈥檚 student sections earned a return on negotiation of more than $30,000 for a total of 209 negotiations鈥攏o small feat during a pandemic.
