Conducting Research Outside of Academia
The 7th Interdisciplinary Graduate Student Research Symposium is pleased to present a discussion addressing the challenges and rewards of leading research outside the academic environment. We're thrilled to host such esteemed guests as Dr. Donald Smith, Lorne M. Trottier, Dr. Kim High and Claude Masse who will share their experiences in discovery after they left the confines of the Ivory Tower.
The discussion will be moderated by Jeremy Schwartzentruber who took the reverse path of many: after working in industry for 8 years, he returned to the ivory tower to study biophysics at 9I制作厂免费. Jeremy completed a B.Sc. in computer science at the University of Victoria, and then worked as a software engineer at four different companies in Seattle and Denver, as well as 8 months in India.
