鈥淪ystems Biology of organelle biogenesis鈥

We exploit the model organism S. cerevisiae for developing systems biology approaches to understand peroxisomes and peroxisome biogenesis.听 Peroxisomes are ubiquitous intracellular organelles that perform a variety of metabolic functions, most notably fatty acid beta oxidation.听 Peroxisomes are remarkably dynamic and their biogenesis occurs in response to a variety of stimuli.听 In yeast, peroxisomes are dramatically induced by fatty acids. The laboratory focuses on understanding the network dynamics controlling this biogenesis response at multiple levels, including signaling, transcription, chromatin dynamics and organelle biogenesis, using functional genomics, proteomics and computational tools of molecular systems biology.
