universities for the 23rd Annual All-Canadian Universities
Reception.
The University of Toronto is the host for this year鈥檚 event at the
Union League Club of Chicago, located in the heart of the financial
district. Richard Sommer, dean of the John H. Daniels Faculty of
Architecture, Landscape and Design, will be the keynote speaker. He
will deliver an entertaining and educational talk entitled
鈥淒yn-O-Mite Fiends: Architecture and Anarchy in Chicago.鈥�
Professor Sommer is an architect and urbanist. Before joining the
University of Toronto, he was a member of the architecture and
urban design faculty at Harvard University鈥檚 Graduate School of
Design. His most recent research concentration has resulted in a
co-authored book entitled "The Democratic Monument in America: a
Twentieth Century Topography". He was also a Visiting American
Scholar and the O鈥橦are Chair of Design and Development at the
University of Ulster, where he worked to develop new models for the
design of Northern Ireland鈥檚 cities and towns as they emerge from
鈥淭he Troubles.鈥�
