Setting yourself up for career success over winter break

2025 is not over yet! Take advantage of these quieter weeks to get ahead on your career planning for 2026. Here are five things you can do to advance your job or internship search using online resources

  1. Get to know yourself
    Grab a notebook and a hot beverage and spend some time reflecting on your strengths, skills, interests, and values. Questions, quizzes, and more available on the Self-Assessment听section of this website
  2. Identify new career paths to explore
    Whether you've always known what you want to do or whether you're drawing a blank, researching what's out there is a crucial step.

  3. Draft an Elevator Pitch
    An elevator pitch only takes 30-60 seconds to deliver to a new professional contact, but the drafting process can take a lot longer. Draft a polished and professional elevator pitch with this to prepare for a networking conversation (guide here) or an upcoming career fair (see 2026 dates here).听
  4. Be intentional about your digital presence

  5. Create a job search plan
    Use 听to check off what you've done so far. Celebrate your progress and plan out what you want to accomplish by the end of the next term.
