In 1990\, Otal showed that this set completely determine s the hyperbolic metric on $\Sigma$. Furthermore\, using Selberg's trace f ormula\, one may obtain information about the spectrum of the Laplace oper ator on hyperbolic surfaces from this length spectrum.
