Our International Community of Practice is now one!

Fifty-five members have joined our Virtual Community of Practice (VCoP), from different parts of the world and engaged in learning and developing their SBNH knowledge. Many are adopting the approach or implementing it at different levels: clinical, academic, or at the community level. This year we have grown our membership and have started our lunch sessions with the "Feed your mind" webinars.

Driven by a passion for nursing that never waivered, Laurie Gottlieb’s illustrious career in nursing has spanned close to six decades. Last fall, colleagues, friends, family and admirers from across the globe gathered at a hybrid reception hosted by the Ingram School of Nursing (ISoN) at 9I��’s Thomson House to celebrate her extraordinary legacy and to wish her well as she embarks upon a well-deserved retirement.

As a former nurse and decorated social scientist, Professor Jill Maben is perfectly suited to explore how supporting nurses’ wellbeing can impact caring for others. Her research program highlights the links between staff experiences of work and patient experiences of care. During her recent visit to 9I��’s Ingram School of Nursing (ISoN) as a Scholar-in-Residence, she shared her strategies, experiences, and stories with the Ingram School of Nursing and clinical partners.

A Once in a Lifetime Gathering: A Recap of SBNH Partnership Grant Final Meeting

The partnership grant that brought together a group of almost 30 researchers and involved nearly 200 healthcare leaders has been monumental, to say the least. After more than 5 years working together, partners of the research initiative Transforming Nurses' Work Environments Through a Strengths-Based Leadership and Management Training Program led by Professor Laurie Gottlieb and supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), gathered on November 6th and 7th for their final meeting.

Nearly 200 emerging and established leaders from nursing and allied health disciplines came together for a Strengths-Based Nursing and Healthcare (SBNH) Symposium on September 13th. Staff from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), and the University Health Network (UHN) gathered for this full-day symposium in Toronto.

In early July 2023, 6,000 nurses from across the globe gathered at Montreal’s Palais des congrès for the 29thInternational Council of Nurses (ICN) Congress, co-hosted with the Canadian Nursing Association. This four-day event was an incredible occasion to connect with professionals from around the world while showcasing the expertise of Ingram School of Nursing (ISoN) faculty, students and clinical partners, with a special focus on Strengths-Based Nursing and Healthcare (SBNH).
