Physiotherapy Considerations for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and Special Needs is a one-day workshop within the Integrated Clinical Exercise Rehabilitation course of the 9I制作厂免费 Physiotherapy program.

Now in its eighth year, this interactive workshop brings聽9I制作厂免费 physiotherapy聽students聽together with athletes from Special Olympics Qu茅bec for an engaging learning聽experience聽enjoyed by all.聽聽

The workshop, which aims to prepare future clinicians to provide inclusive, individualized care, is coordinated by Tania Janaudis-Ferreira, PhD, Associate Professor,聽School of Physical and Occupational Therapy,聽Zachary Weber,聽physiotherapist at Action Sport Physio and SPOT聽alumnus and聽Tristan Delmas,聽Director of聽the聽Health Communities,聽Special Olympics聽Qu茅bec.

Their mission is to sensitize the next generation of clinicians early in their learning journey to work with vulnerable populations, and to create a network of physiotherapists equipped to bring individualized care to this clientele.聽

To prepare for the workshop, students聽complete an online聽lecture covering聽strategies for working with individuals with intellectual disabilities,聽population-specific needs, and the聽FUNfitness聽screening tool.聽On the day of聽the workshop, Special Olympics athletes join students on campus to聽work through聽the聽FUNfitness聽protocol and adapt procedures to meet individual needs.

Professor Janaudis-Ferreira聽is聽passionate about聽exploring聽novel ways to integrate interactive teaching聽methods聽in the classroom.聽聽These align聽with her聽broader mission聽of enhancing healthcare delivery through more effective and engaging聽interventions.聽聽聽聽

Earlier this year, the聽workshop聽team聽received a聽聽in recognition of their efforts聽over the years.聽
