He holds a Master of Philosophy degree in Social Work from the University of Ghana a nd a PhD in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. His practice expe rience has been in the areas of community organizing\, social policy analy sis\, and program development and evaluation.\n\nDr. Gyan’s presentation\, Gasping for Breath: Women’s Concerns & the Politics of Community Developm ent in Rural Ghana\, will focus on the experiences of women within the con text of community development in rural Ghana.\n\nFollowing an overview of his program of research\, he will present the key findings of his recent t ransnational feminist study on the barriers faced by women in community de velopment processes.
