It is becoming abun dantly clear that the optimal path for the acquisition of this material is to distribute the task of digitizing the wealth of historical and cultura l heritage material that exists in analogue formats\, which may include bo oks\, manuscripts\, music scores\, maps\, photographs\, videos\, analogue tapes\, and phonograph records. In order to achieve this goal\, libraries\ , museums\, and archives throughout the world\, large or small\, need well -researched policies\, proper guidance\, and efficient tools to digitize t heir collections and to make them available economically.\n\nThe research conducted within the program addresses unique and imminent challenges pose d by the digitization and dissemination of music media. In this talk vario us projects conducted at our laboratory will be presented\; including larg e-scale optical music recognition\, workflow management for automatic meta data extraction of LP recordings\, creation of ground truth for structural and chord analysis of music\, evaluation of digitization methods for anal ogue recordings\, and digital prosopography of Renaissance musicians.\n\n \n BIO\n Ichiro Fujinaga is an Associate Professor in the Music Technology A rea at the Schulich School of Music at 9I制作厂免费.聽 He has Bachelor 's degrees in Music/Percussion and Mathematics from University of Alberta and a Master's degree in Music Theory and a Ph.D. in Music Technology from 9I制作厂免费. Research interests include music theory\, machine lear ning\, music perception\, optical music recognition\, digital signal proce ssing\, genetic algorithms\, and music information acquisition\, preservat ion\, and retrieval.\n\nThis talk is free and open to the public. Please a rrive early to secure a seat.\n DTSTART:20151113T173000Z DTEND:20151113T190000Z LOCATION:Room 106\, CA\, School of Information Studies\, 3661 Peel\, Rm. 10 6\, Montreal SUMMARY:Information Studies Seminar Series: 'The Research Program of the Di stributed Digital Music Archives and Libraries Laboratory.'
