In this t alk\, I will present recent work from my lab that explored the impact of a ging on speech and voice production. I will also describe the neurobiologi cal mechanisms that underlie these changes\, focusing on neuroplasticity. Finally\, the moderating impact of singing on voice and speech production in aging will also be discussed.\n\nBiography:\n\nPascale Tremblay is asso ciate professor in Rehabilitation Sciences at Université Laval in Québec C ity\, Canada\, researcher at the CERVO Brain Research Center and holder of a Chercheur-boursier Junior 2 career award from the FRQS.\n \n Dr. Tremblay is co-director of the Quebec City brain imaging Consortium (CINQ)\, and c o-founder of the Society for the Neurobiology of Language (SNL). Her labor atory\, the Speech and hearing Neurosciences Laboratory (www.speechneurola b.ca)\, focuses on understanding the behavioural and neural substrates of speech/voice perception and production in adulthood and throughout aging u sing cognitive neurosciences methods.\n \n Her research combines high-end br ain imaging methods\, such as structural\, functional and diffusion-weight ed imaging\, brain stimulation methods and carefully designed experimental manipulations. Current work is focused on identifying the factors that af fect speech functions in aging\, including neurocognitive and sensorimotor aging and on strategies that can alleviate age-related changes to human c ommunication such as singing though experience-induced brain plasticity.\n DTSTART:20181015T213000Z DTEND:20181015T223000Z LOCATION:Room 232\, Leacock Building\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2T7\, 855 r ue Sherbrooke Ouest SUMMARY:Clinical Outreach Seminar URL:/scsd/channels/event/clinical-outreach-seminar-289 799 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
