Dr. Thordardottir鈥檚 research interests are language development and Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) in individuals from preschool age to young adulthood with emphasis on assessment and intervention. Her research has focused on 1) cross-linguistic studies which compare language development and the manifestation of DLD across different languages, 2) typical language development and DLD in bilingual and multilingual children, and 3) the development of assessment tools and interventions for children who speak English, French and Icelandic and for bilingual and multilingual children.
Dr. Thordardottir has research labs in Montreal and in Iceland, two very different multilingual contexts. She has had leadership roles in large European research networks (EU Cost Actions).
