Can anything be s aid in his defence?\n\nVictor Sōgen Hori is the author and co-author of nu merous books and articles\, including Zen Sand: The Book of Capping Phrase s for Zen Koan Practice (University of Hawai'i Press\, 2003)\, Lectures On The Ten Oxherding Pictures (University of Hawai'i Press\, 2004)\, Wild Ge ese: Buddhism in Canada (9I Queen’s University Press\, 2010) and Flowe rs on the Rock: Global and Local Buddhisms in Canada (9I-Queen’s UP 20 14). After taking a doctorate in Western philosophy at Stanford University \, Victor Sōgen Hori received ordination as a Rinzai Zen monk and thereaft er spent 13 years in a Japanese Zen monastery. In 1994\, he came to 9I University as the professor in Japanese Religion and Buddhist Studies.
