Despite th e prevalence and impact of these disorders\, access to effective intervent ions remains limited in Quebec and worldwide.\n\nIn response to this criti cal need\, Reut Gruber\, and the Scientific Committee\, comprised of Lila Amirali\, Stacey Espinet\, Lily Hechtman\, and David Zielinski\, are proud to announce a one-day workshop aimed at equipping professionals involved in the education\, assessment\, or care of children and adolescents with t he knowledge and tools necessary to recognize and address pediatric sleep disorders.\n\nScheduled for March 15\, 2024\, International World Sleep Da y\, this free virtual event will feature educational sessions led by exper ts in pediatric sleep. Participants will gain insights into the relationsh ip between sleep and youth health\, mental health\, and academic performan ce\, as well as approaches for sleep disorders and improve young people re siliency through promoting their sleep health.\n\nChildren who do not slee p well frequently miss school or\, when they attend\, have a hard time foc using\, remembering\, and following the teacher’s instructions. They are i rritable and have difficulty regulating emotions\, so they suffer from hig her levels of anxiety and depression. Sleep problems in children are commo n\, often minimized\, ignored\, or inadequately addressed. We need to chan ge that. Children at risk of poor mental health or academic performance sh ould be screened for sleep disorders and get the help they need. Together\ , we need to generate community awareness on the importance of healthy sle ep for our children and youth.\n\nIn light of the profound impact of pedia tric sleep disorders on children's lives\, this workshop represents a uniq ue opportunity for professionals from diverse fields to come together\, sh are insights\, and collaborate on effective strategies for improving sleep health in young people.
