 out Prenatal Maternal Stress and Child Development\n\nPresenter: 聽Susanne 
 King\, PhD\,\n\nSuzanne King\, Ph.D. is Professor of Psychiatry at 9I制作厂免费 
 University as well as a principle investigator at the 9I制作厂免费-affiliated Do
 uglas Mental Health University Institute\, both in Montreal\, Canada. Afte
 r graduate training in psychology and educational research in Virginia\, s
 he conducted post-doctoral research at the Douglas\, studying the family d
 ynamics of people with schizophrenia. Her results led to the study of risk
  factors for mental illness\, and then of prenatal maternal stress in part
 icular. She is currently running five studies of children exposed to natur
 al disasters in utero in order to understand the nature and mechanisms of 
 effects of prenatal stress.\n\nLearning Objectives:\n\n\n	Participants will
  understand the value of distinguishing between what happens to a pregnant
  woman from what she thinks about what happened and her emotional reaction
 s to it.\n	Participants will understand the extent to which prenatal matern
 al stress predicts child development in the areas of cognitive\, behaviora
 l\, motor and physical development.\n	Participants will understand how the 
 timing of a stressful event in pregnancy\, and the sex of the child\, mode
 rate the effects of prenatal maternal stress.聽\n\n
