William Arbour is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Universit茅 de Montr茅al, where he teaches econometrics and data science. His research focuses on the economics of crime, using statistical tools to evaluate public policy issues such as the effects of cognitive-behavioral therapy on inmate behavior and recidivism, the impact of parole on reincarceration, rising violence in subway stations, and mental health treatments for incarcerated individuals. He has collaborated with organizations including Quebec鈥檚 Ministry of Public Security, the Quebec Parole Board, Justice Canada, and the Montreal Police Service. He also leads one of five research teams with initial access to Statistics Canada鈥檚 Criminal Justice Relational Database and is affiliated with the International Centre for Comparative Criminology, the Chair in Economic Evaluation of Public Programs, and CIRANO. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Toronto.
