 esearch: targeting sensitization\n\nChronic pain is debilitating\, and has
  immense personal and societal costs. Despite decades of research seeking 
 to develop new treatment for chronic pain\, little progress has been made.
  The Gereau lab has been studying mechanisms of sensitization in neural pa
 thways that mediate and modulate pain for over twenty years. This presenta
 tion describes a series of studies ranging from mice to humans where key m
 echanisms of sensitization are tested in an attempt to identify new target
 s for the treatment of chronic pain\, and provides insights into critical 
 steps in the translational research spectrum to reduce failures in develop
 ment of new treatments.\n\nThis event is part of the Department of Physiol
 ogy Friday Seminar Series and is co-sponsored by the Alan Edwards Centre f
 or Research on Pain (AECRP)\n
