For Assistant Professor Annie Chevrier, participating as an appointed university representative on a committee tasked with modernizing the CEGEP nursing program has been a humbling and gratifying experience. “From January to May 2024, we conducted focus groups with 160 nurses across Quebec and heard stories of remarkable resilience and adaptation,” she reports.

Thanks to Associate Professor Norma Ponzoni, the Ingram School of Nursing hosted Victoria Campbell during her study trip abroad funded by the Scottish Quality Safety Fellowship.

As a clinical academic with the National Health Service in Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Scotland, Campbell conducts research on the utilization of physician and senior nurse practitioner clinical expertise in specialist areas, with the goal of educating and sustaining the clinical nurse specialist workforce of the future, while strengthening partnerships between universities and health boards.

Homecoming celebrates nursing resilience, continuity and innovation

At a Homecoming event titled “Innovation in Healthcare: The Future of Nursing Starts Here: Tour, dialogue and Tea”, nursing alumni from across Canada and the United States were all smiles as they reconnected with former classmates, met current students, and marvelled at the modern facilities offered by the Ingram School of Nursing. Several members of the MSc(A)-N Class of ’85 were in attendance, including Ingram School of Nursing Director Lynne McVey, met for lunch the following day, sharing memories and keeping the conversation going.

Ceremonies celebrate nursing professionalism

To mark an important rite of passage for first-year undergraduate and graduate students as they enter the clinical setting, the Ingram School of Nursing hosted two separate nursing professionalism ceremonies. Held on October 9, 2025 at The Neuro’s Jeanne Timmins Amphitheatre, the first ceremony welcomed 225 entry-to-practice students in the qualifying year of the Master of Science in Nursing (for students with no prior nursing backgrounds), the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the Bachelor of Nursing Integrated programs.

Indigenous Field Study Course transformational experience for advanced nursing student

For Advanced Nursing Master’s student Sheena Doyle, participating in the Interdisciplinary Indigenous Field Study Course last May opened her eyes, her mind and her heart to new perspectives and new ways of relating to her work as a labour and delivery nurse. The interdisciplinary nature of the course was particularly appealing to Doyle. “Coming from a nursing background, I was struck by how much I learned about colonialism and decolonization when examined through the interconnected perspectives of anthropology, social work, healthcare, and law,” she reports.

Teaching breastfeeding basics to nutrition students
