Jos茅e Bonneau receives national award for accreditation reviewer excellence

Presented by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing, this award recognizes Professor Bonneau's distinguished career as a nurse educator.

Jos茅e Bonneau鈥檚 distinguished career as a nurse educator was recognized on November 17, 2025 when she received the Wendy McBride Award for Accreditation Reviewer Excellence from the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN). In assessing nursing education programs against CASN鈥檚 rigorous accreditation standards, the role of the reviewer is critical to promoting excellence in nursing education and to ensuring the credibility of the accreditation process.

Since she took on a full-time position at the Ingram School of Nursing in 2014, Professor Bonneau, RN, MScN, EdD, has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to quality nursing education. She served as the School鈥檚 Associate Director 鈥 Education for a period of several years, guiding faculty in the evaluation, development and continuous improvement of the School鈥檚 top-notch nursing education programs. Prior to joining the faculty at 9I制作厂免费 she worked at the Ordre des Infirmi猫res et Infirmiers du Qu茅bec (OIIQ) in the Surveillance Office for Nursing Practice where she contributed to the development of nursing competencies and evidence-based practice guidelines. Her research interests include nursing education and practice, the development of advanced nursing competencies, equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging (EDIB), and ethics education.

The award was presented to Prof. Bonneau during CASN鈥橲 Annual Council Meeting in Ottawa. She was praised by the awards selection committee which noted that, 鈥淗er deep understanding of the accreditation program and ability to grasp the realities of various teaching environments make her an exemplary role model for colleagues and an excellent ambassador for the accreditation program among schools of nursing.鈥

As she accepted the award in the presence of Ingram School of Nursing colleagues as well as nurse educators from across Canada, Prof. Bonneau said, 鈥淚 am grateful for the opportunity to learn with鈥攁nd from鈥攃olleagues from across Canada and abroad. Thank you to CASN for offering academics the invaluable opportunity to engage in supporting and advancing nursing education. The work we do together helps strengthen our programs, our institutions, and ultimately the profession itself.鈥
