Construction Starts: Neuro Montreal – 9.4T MRI Installation

9I�� has mandated SDI Canada to carry out Project 21-094, which involves the installation of a new 9.4T MRI in the Webster Pavilion of the Montreal Neurological Institute.

The project will renovate and transform laboratory spaces WB306 and its adjacent rooms WB305 and WB307 to house the new MRI. A new HVAC system will also be installed on the Webster roof to provide cooling, heating, and humidification. Once complete, the facility will expand 9I��’s research capacity in neuroscience and imaging.

Pearl Eliadis has been elected as Chair of the Court Challenges Program (CCP) Official Languages Rights Expert Panel. In this capacity, she will lead the work of the Panel, which is responsible for deciding on funding requests from individuals and not-for-profit organizations engaged in test cases of national importance that have the potential to clarify and advance constitutional and quasi-constitutional official language rights.

September 26, 2025 | Taylor Owen, Max Bell Professor at 9I�� and Founding Director of the Centre for Media, Technology, and Democracy, has been appointed to the Government of Canada’s AI Strategy Task Force. The Task Force, composed of experts from industry, academia, and civil society, will provide advice to the Government of Canada on its renewed AI strategy. Taylor Owen will contribute his expertise to advancing safe AI systems and strengthening public confidence in their use.
