The 9th edition wi ll take place on May 9 and 10\, 2014. This year's theme: Entre art et scie nce mon cÅ“ur balance! The day kicks-off at noon on Friday\, and comes to a close 24 hours later. The dynamic program includes lab visits\, science competitions\, films\, etc. Activities will explore a number of themes\, i ncluding mathematics\, health\, astronomy\, life sciences\, engineering an d the environment. Participate in 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ events and don’t forget to check out 24 Hours of Science’s program for ALL the activities scheduled in Mont real and in the rest of Quebec. This year\, for the first time\, the 24 H ours of Science will close with a special presentation\, Science serving A rt: Right or Wrong? by Professor Ariel Fenster\, Department of Chemistry\, Office for Science & Society at the Redpath Museum. The forest on Mount Royal has been known by humans since prehistoric times. Wood was used for construction and tools\, many plants were collected for food and others f or medicinal uses. For example\, white cedar bark from the mountain was pr epared by the St. Lawrence Iroquoians and provided to early newcomers as a tonic against scurvy. This event starts with brief presentation in the Mu seum\, continues with walk to the Hochelaga monument and finishes with tra ditional Huron-Wendat ceremony and strawberry refreshment near the Kondiar onk White Pine on Mount Royal's summit behind the Belvedere. Part of this presentation will be led by Darrell Thompson\, a traditional Mohawk medici ne man. The complete talk and walk is two hours. Participate in a mock tra uma scenario with the medical team and learn what steps are taken when tre ating a critically wounded patient. You will even have the opportunity to speak with an MUHC patient who has survived a trauma.
