In this talk\, we examine what effe ct precipitation has on the evolution of a barotropically unstable Bickley jet in an idealized setting. In particular\, we consider what effect a me ridional gradient in saturation moisture has on the growing instability an d later stages of the flow when it becomes more turbulent. We find that\, as the gradient increases\, (i) the waveform of the most unstable mode mov es to larger scales\, (ii) the growth rate decreases\, (iii) an asymmetry between cyclones and anticyclones develops\, and (iv) cyclones become more intensified.   \n DTSTART:20160210T200000Z DTEND:20160210T203000Z LOCATION:Room 934\, Burnside Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 0B9\, 805 rue Sherbrooke Ouest SUMMARY:Student Seminar: Eric Bembenek URL:/meteo/channels/event/student-seminar-eric-bembene k-255073 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
