 onoured to serve as the Executive Director of the First Nations Child and 
 Family Caring Society and a professor at 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ’s School of Soc
 ial Work. She has over 30 years of experience working in child welfare and
  Indigenous children’s rights and has published more than 75 articles on t
 opics relating to reconciliation\, Indigenous theory\, First Nations child
  welfare and human rights. Cindy was honoured to work with First Nations c
 olleagues on a successful human rights challenge to Canada’s inequitable p
 rovision of child and family services and failure to implement Jordan’s Pr
 inciple. This hard-fought litigation has resulted in hundreds of thousands
  of services being provided to First Nations children\, youth and families
 .\n\nShe recently served on the Pan American Health Commission on Health E
 quity and Inequity and fundamentally believes that culturally-based equity
  is fundamental to meaningful reconciliation. Cindy is frequently sighted 
 in the company of the Caring Society’s reconciliation Am-bear-rister\, Spi
 rit Bear\, engaging children in meaningful actions to implement the TRC Ca
 lls to Action.\n\nEquity + Culture = Healthy Kids\n\nEquity means access t
 o the same opportunities as others in areas such as education\, healthcare
 \, and other vital public services. As more First Nations move towards sel
 f-determination\, how will they ensure equity for their members? It is inh
 erently tied to self-determination\, especially as First Nations continue 
 to move forward despite past and present systemic racism in Canada.\n\nREG
