As usual\, there will be pizza.\n\n  \n\nThis week\, Erfan will talk to us about subjective probability:\n\n  \n\nAnyone has a personal degree of belief and judgment about whether diff erent outcomes are likely to occur or not which is qualitative. How can yo u convert this into quantitative data which serve as probability values? I will discuss a method to convert subjective probabilities into classical and numerical probabilities for both unconditional and conditional cases. In other words\, we will introduce a strategy to make personal beliefs int o numbers satisfying Kolmogorov's axioms of probability theory. This metho d was introduced independently by Ramsey and De Finetti. We will prove the fundamental theorem about this method i.e. Ramsey - De Finetti theorem. \n\n \n\nSee you all there!\n\n \n\nAll graduate students are invited. As with all talks in the graduate student seminar\, this talk will be accessi ble to all graduate students in math and stats. This seminar was made poss ible by funding from the 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ Mathematics and Statistics Department and PGSS.\n DTSTART:20190329T170000Z DTEND:20190329T180000Z LOCATION:BURN 1025\, Burnside Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 0B9\, 805 rue Sherbrooke Ouest SUMMARY:Mathematics & Statistics Graduate Student Seminar: subjective proba bility URL:/mathstat/channels/event/mathematics-statistics-gr aduate-student-seminar-subjective-probability-295800 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
