Neutron transport theory emerges in the rigorous mathematical liter ature in the mid-1950s. Its treatment as an integro-differential equation eventually settled in the applied mathematics literature through the theor y of c_0-semigroup theory\, thanks to the work of Robert Dautray\, Louis L ions and collaborators. This paved the way for its spectral analysis which has played an important role in the design of nuclear reactors and nuclea r medical equipment. We also look at the natural probabilistic approach to the NTE which has largely been left behind. Connections with methods of b ranching particle systems\, quasi-stationarity for Markov processes and st ochastic analysis all lead new ways of characterising solutions and spectr al behaviour the NTE. In particular this\, in turn\, leads to the suggesti on of completely new Monte-Carlo algorithms\, which has genuine industrial impact.\n DTSTART:20190111T210000Z DTEND:20190111T220000Z LOCATION:Room 1104\, Burnside Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 0B9\, 805 rue Sherbrooke Ouest SUMMARY:Andreas Kyprianou\, University of Bath URL:/mathstat/channels/event/andreas-kyprianou-univers ity-bath-292958 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
