 r Sleno's lab is interested in identifying and quantifying reactive metabo
 lite modifications on proteins. She will present their recent work on the 
 quantitation of acetaminophen modified serum albumin in both a rat model a
 nd in an acute liver failure cohort\, while explaining the steps needed to
  develop a method to measure exact amounts of modified protein. They have 
 used a surrogate protein level standard to account for all losses during s
 ample prep and yield a surrogate calibration curve for the modified analyt
 e peptide. They have then applied the use of this surrogate standard to st
 udy acetaminophen modifications on different glutathione-S-transferases.\n
 \nABOUT THE SPEAKER:\n\nLekha Sleno received her PhD in chemistry from Dal
 housie University in 2006\, where her work involved small molecule mass sp
 ectrometry. She then completed two postdoctoral fellowships at the Univers
 ity of Geneva in Switzerland (in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry) and 
 the University of Toronto (at the Donnelly CCBR in proteomics research). S
 he is currently associate professor in the chemistry department at UQAM (U
 niversité du Québec à Montréal). Her research interests include bioanalyti
 cal mass spectrometry applied to metabolomics and covalent binding of reac
 tive drug metabolites.\n\nThis talk is opened to anyone interested in lear
 ning more about Mass Spectrometry and its applications will obtain a great
