Climate change leads to ecosystem changes\, sea level rise\, increasing risk of ex treme weather\, and a substantial reduction in agricultural productivity a nd food supplies. If no action taken\, it is estimated that the direct cos ts and risks of climate change will be equivalent to losing at least 5% of global GDP each year and the damage from climate change could increase to 20% of GDP per year if a wider range of risks and impacts are taken into account. Therefore\, it is important to find effective measures that can h elp to stop climate change. The most popular measures include deploying cl eaner energy sources to replace fossil fuels and placing a carbon price on greenhouse gas emissions. This dissertation aims at assessing the impact of climate change mitigation strategies in Canada. Chapter 2 and 3 analyze the economic and environmental impact of using wood pellets for greenhous e vegetable production in Canada. Chapter 4 investigates the impact of a c arbon tax on food prices and food consumption patterns in Canada.\n\nEvery one in the 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ community is welcome to attend a PhD oral defense. Pleas e join us in celebrating the accomplishments of our PhD candidates.\n DTSTART:20180503T131500Z DTEND:20180503T131500Z LOCATION:MS2-022\, Macdonald-Stewart Building\, CA\, QC\, St Anne de Bellev ue\, H9X 3V9\, 21111 Lakeshore Road SUMMARY:PhD Oral Defense: The evaluation of GHG emissions mitigation strate gies on environment and economic development in Canada URL:/macdonald/channels/event/phd-oral-defense-evaluat ion-ghg-emissions-mitigation-strategies-environment-and-economic-developme nt-286202 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
