According to a 2007 Nature stud y\, the origins of their plant family\, Orchidaceae\, can be traced back a s far as 70-80 million years. It is no surprise then\, that as one of the most diverse plant families on the planet\, the Orchidaceae family include s 10s of 1000s of species. The moth orchid is for many a gateway into the orchid world. This beautiful plant can be tricky for beginners\, but once you know its secrets you will find moth orchids to be an easy and rewardin g houseplant. This workshop is for those taking on their first moth orchid \, or for those orchid-lovers who are always willing to learn more about t heir favorite plants! In this workshop\, orchid-lover and 9I Plant Sci ence PhD student Christie Lovat will address the special needs moth orchid s. Participants will receive large moth orchid (valued at 40$) in a 4” pot to take back to the office or home. The workshop will run for about 30 mi nutes with plenty of time for questions.\n\nThe cost of this workshop will be 30$.
