We received num erous submissions of an exceptional quality from scholars and junior pract itioners from 13 countries\, including Argentina\, Australia\, Austria\, C anada\, Germany\, Haiti\, India\, Ireland\, Italy\, Kenya\, Spain\, the Un ited Kingdom and the United States.\n\n\n First Prize: Shahal Khoso (Pakist ani PhD candidate in Political Science\, Universitat Pompeu Fabra\, Barcel ona\, Spain) – $5\,000\n “Postcolonial Federalism: Tracing Colonial State-F ormation in the Global South”\n For its original and ground-breaking argume nt challenging Western-centric approaches to federalism\, through a skillf ul comparative and historical angle.\n\n\n \n\n\n Second Prize: Arnaud Host e and Ashley Saad (LLM candidates\, 9I\, Montreal\, Canada) – $3\,000\n “Canadian Federalism and Environmental Protection: What Makes it Work (or Not!)”\n For its important insights into a complex and relevant area of Canadian federalism\, supported by a rich diversity of sources.\n \n\n \n\n\n Third Prize: Nadine Dahou and Anne-Frédérique Naud (MA candidat es in Applied Political Studies\, Université de Sherbrooke\, Canada) – $1\ ,000\n “The Evolution of Intergovernmental Relations in Immigration: Cooper ative Federalism in Canada and Australia”\n For its skillful comparative ap proach to a crucial issue facing federal states\, supported by a profound analysis of secondary sources.\n\n\n \n\n\n Special Mention from the Jury:  Andreas Samartzis (Greek PhD candidate in Law\, University of Cambridge\, United Kingdom)\n “Judicial Supremacy in the European Federal Union”\n For i ts novel perspective and instructive overview of theoretical approaches to the legitimacy of judicial power in this complex polity.\n\n\n \n\n\n Spec ial Mention from the Jury: Olivier Jacques (Assistant Professor in Public Health\, Université de Montréal\, Canada)\n “Régler le déséquilibre fiscal ?
