Some institutions are questioning whether to rename bui ldings or awards that bear the names of historical figures whose legacies are at odds with modern expectations.\n\nIn January 2018\, the Working Gro up on Principles of Commemoration and Renaming began an examination of McG ill’s relationship (past and current) with underrepresented groups\, in th e context of a broad-reaching reflection of its institutional history\, wi th a view to recommending a set of principles by which the University may be guided in its decision-making with respect to any future commemorative or renaming initiative.\n\nThe Working Group’s final report is due in Dece mber 2018. The Working Group invites the 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ community to read the draf t version of its report [.pdf]\, and discuss their thoughts during the two planned Town Halls. The downtown campus Town Hall takes place at the Facu lty of Law. Please note that other consultation will take place September 26\, 2018\, at the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences\, on Macdonald campus.\n DTSTART:20180912T210000Z DTEND:20180912T230000Z LOCATION:NCDH 312\, Chancellor Day Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 1W9\, 36 44 rue Peel SUMMARY:Town Hall – Working Group on Principles of Commemoration and Renami ng URL:/law/channels/event/town-hall-working-group-princi ples-commemoration-and-renaming-289340 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
