The title of the conference is 'Managing In ternational Economic (Dis)Integration: Challenges and Opportunities.'\n\nW e have requested accreditation by a recognized provider for 10 hours of Co ntinuing Legal Education for jurists.\n\nDescription\n\nThe international community continues to grapple with potential moves toward international e conomic disintegration\, such as Brexit\, withdrawals from ICSID and BITs\ , the aftermath of the Euro crisis and the Trump administration鈥檚 re-negot iation of the NAFTA and other FTAs.\n\nThe current moment also presents op portunities for innovation and for new alliances: the CPTPP may come into force without the United States\, and efforts to construct an African Cont inental Free Trade Area and to establish a multilateral investment court c ontinue apace.\n\nMoreover\, emerging economies increasingly take the lead on multilateral initiatives. In the WTO\, India and Brazil have proposed new agreements on trade facilitation in services and investment facilitati on\, respectively. China鈥檚 One Belt One Road initiative and the new Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank are increasingly shaping investment pattern s in the region.\n\nThe conference will take stock of the fast-moving deve lopments at this crucial moment in the evolution of international economic law.\n\nProgram\n\nThe conference will feature over 20 panels with over 7 5 speakers on a broad range of international economic law issues\, and two keynote speakers:聽Colin Brown聽(Deputy Head of Unit\, Dispute Settlement a nd Legal Aspects of Trade Policy\, Directorate-General for Trade\, Europea n Commission) and聽Kirsten Hillman聽(Canada鈥檚 Deputy Ambassador to the Unite d States).
