To highlight the social context of innovatio n\, the CIPP and CIGI are organizing a one-day interdisciplinary workshop\ , in association with 9I’s Innovation Week. \n\n Open to stu dents\, entrepreneurs\, policy-makers and community leaders we will explor e together the fundamental role that human structures\, attitudes\, skills and knowledge have in determining the impact of innovation. \n\n Our pane ls will examine how innovation is as much as social phenomenon as a techno logical one. The bias towards technology ignores the reality that many of the most significant innovations are either not related to technology or a re only peripherally so. Great technologies that don’t meet social needs w ill fail\; important social changes can have substantial impact even witho ut technologies. \n\n Ultimately\, our event will explore what conditions in society lead people not only to create but to turn those creations into innovations. Idea-driven goods and services pose new challenges for our s ocieties. As they disrupt conventional economic\, political\, and social s tructures\, they create tremendous uncertainty. How can countries maximize the benefits of innovation? How should society adapt technology to its ne ed? How do innovations transform us and our social interactions?  In all t hese questions\, we cannot forget the importance of the social to the succ ess or failure of innovation and the relationship between people and their innovations. \n\n See the program\, meet the panelists and learn more at w ww.innovationcontext.com.\n\n Register for free at innovation-in-context.ev entbrite.ca.\n\n DTSTART:20161119T140000Z DTEND:20161119T220000Z LOCATION:Espace A \, CA\, QC\, Montréal\, H2Y 2M3\, Phi Centre\, 407 Rue Sa int Pierre SUMMARY:Innovation in Context URL:/law/channels/event/innovation-context-263930 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
