Combining political theory with ethnographic research among the Mohawks of Kahnawà:ke\, a reserve community in what is now southwestern Qu ebec\, Audra Simpson examines their struggles to articulate and maintain p olitical sovereignty through centuries of settler colonialism.\n\nAbout th e author\n\nAudra Simpson is Associate Professor of Anthropology at Columb ia University. Her book Mohawk Interruptus: Political Life Across the Bord ers of Settler States (Duke University Press) garnered several “first book ” awards and honourable mentions. She is co-editor of the collection Theor izing Native Studies\, (Duke University Press).
