DESCRIPTION:This summer\, the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Com
 parative Law is presenting its second series of Summer Seminars in which t
 he whole 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ Law community is invited to take part. The main purpose of
  this series is to offer a forum to younger scholars to present their idea
 s and to engage with those of others in an informal setting.  The first Su
 mmer Seminar will be given by Étienne Cossette-Lefebvre\, BCL/LLB'14. The 
 presentation will be in French.  Abstract (in French only)  Dans le monde 
 moderne\, sous l’impulsion des biotechnologies\, le corps humain\, de même
  que ses éléments ou produits\, s’insèrent de plus en plus dans le commerc
 e.  Les attributs personnels\, tels le nom\, l’image\, la voix ou la vie p
 rivée\, se voient couramment assigner une valeur pécuniaire\, et font l’ob
 jet de concessions moyennant contreparties en argent.  Pourtant\, la tradi
 tion civiliste se refuse à analyser les rapports du sujet à sa personnalit
 é en termes de propriété\, préférant recourir à la catégorie des « droits 
 de la personnalité ».   Les droits de la personnalité sont traditionnellem
 ent exclus du patrimoine.  À ce titre\, ils sont dits incessibles\, intran
 smissibles\, insaisissables\, imprescriptibles et indisponibles.  Au contr
 aire\, la propriété est présentée comme le plus important des droits patri
 moniaux\, avec le droit de créance\, et sa pleine aliénabilité\, cessibili
 té et transmissibilité en seraient un attribut capital.  Propriété et droi
 ts de la personnalité seraient donc antinomiques\, et il serait hérétique 
 de parler de « propriété de la personnalité » en droit civil.  Or\, cette 
 antinomie n’est qu’imaginaire.  À notre avis\, et nous nous concentrerons 
 surtout sur le droit québécois pour le démontrer\, la personnalité humaine
  est constitutive d’un véritable bien\, et les droits de la personnalité s
 ont de véritables droits de propriété.  Speaker bio  Étienne Cossette-Lefe
 bvre received an honourable mention from the Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf in Ma
 y 2010 for having completed the multidisciplinary program in Sciences\, le
 ttres et arts with high distinction. In May 2014\, he graduated with a B.C
 .L/LL.B. (with honours) from 9IÖÆ×÷³§Ãâ·Ñ. While at the faculty\, he 
 earned the J.W. McConnell Scholarship\, the Wilson & LaFleur Prize\, the W
 ainwright Essay Prize and the Selma and Jak Almaleh Prize. He was named to
  the Dean’s Honor List and is a member of the Golden Key International Hon
 our Society. During the course of his studies in law\, he clerked at the Q
 uebec Court of Appeal and interned at Éducaloi. He also worked as a tutor 
 and research assistant and represented the Law Student Association at one 
 of the faculty committees for curriculum reform. He is currently registere
 d for the Quebec Bar and will begin a clerkship under a Quebec Court of Ap
