  d’inaugurer le cycle 2016-2018 des Ateliers de droit civil\, sur le thème
  « Le public en droit privé »\, par une conférence du professeur Frederik 
 Swennen (Université d’Anvers).\n\nRésumé\n\n(En anglais seulement) The dis
 connect between marriage and parenthood (Parsons 1916) seems acquis in 21C
  family law. Particularly\, filiation can be established with full effect 
 vis-à-vis parents who are not\, and never were\, each other’s intimate par
 tners.\n\nThe first purpose of this Workshop\, however\, is to unveil that
  parenthood still is much dependent on the existence of a(n) (former) inti
 mate partnership between the parents\, e.g. in adoption law (art. 555 CCQ)
  or in the exercise of parental authority (art. 372 CCF). Function merely 
 seems to have replaced form.\n\nThe second purpose is to normatively discu
 ss the above in light of the “channelling function” of family law (Schneid
 er 1992)\, aiming to direct people into accepted social institutions that 
 exert performative effects. Is there a State interest to direct parents to
 wards certain intimate practices\, if not institutions? Alternatively\, is
  there a State interest in developing a non-intimate parenthood status bet
 ween parents (Weiner 2015)?\n\nThe Workshop will draw on family studies an
 d on Quebec and Low Countries’ family law.\n\nLes ateliers de droit civil
 \n\nEn vue de promouvoir la réflexion fondamentale en droit privé\, le Cen
 tre a instauré la série des Ateliers de droit civil\, qui permet de regrou
 per des juristes québécois et étrangers autour de thèmes de recherche comm
 uns. Dédiés à l’étude d’un thème de recherche transversal\, les Ateliers d
 e droit civil contribuent ainsi à enrichir et à stimuler la recherche fond
 amentale en droit privé.\n\nLe cycle 2016-2018 des Ateliers de droit civil
 \, présenté par le Centre Paul-André Crépeau de droit privé et comparé\, s
 e déroulera sur le thème « Le public en droit privé ».\n\nLe cycle des Ate
 liers de droit civil compte sur l’appui financier des Fonds d’appui à l’ac
 cès à la justice dans les deux langues officielles.\n\nAucune inscription 
 préalable n’est requise. Chaque atelier est accrédité pour 1\,5 heures de 
 formation continue obligatoire auprès du Barreau du Québec.\n
