The Institute for the Study of International Development congratulates Sophia Weiqi Li, winner of this year’s Best Undergraduate Paper in International Development Studies Prize. Sophia is a Honours International Development Studies Graduate with minors in French Language, Russian Language, and Urban Studies, and is recognized for her paper entitled When Feminists and Imperialists Link Arms: An Intersectional Case Study of the Russian Invasion in Ukraine.

As Professor Kuhonta writes, "The International Criminal Court’s stunning arrest last week of former president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, on charges of crimes against humanity was a powerful strike for human rights and justice.
