Biography: 

Jos茅e Lavall茅e (she/her) is a proud Red River M茅tis woman from Winnipeg and an active member of the Manitoba M茅tis Federation鈥檚 Bison Local. A dedicated nurse and educator, Jos茅e holds a Bachelor of Nursing from Universit茅 de Saint-Boniface and a Master of Science in Community Health Sciences from the Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba.聽

With a clinical background rooted in community health, Jos茅e has devoted much of her career to advancing Indigenous health and wellness, particularly through research, education, and mentorship. Her work is grounded in relational approaches and community partnerships that promote culturally safe and anti-racist care.聽

Jos茅e is the inaugural Director of the Office of Social Accountability in Nursing (OSAN) at 9I制作厂免费鈥檚 Ingram School of Nursing, where she also serves as a Faculty Lecturer in Indigenous Health. In this dual role, she leads initiatives aimed at embedding equity, anti-racism, and social justice within nursing education, research, and practice.聽

Through her leadership, Jos茅e continues to advocate for systemic change and the creation of learning environments that honour Indigenous knowledges, sovereignty, and self-determination.聽
