In his role he is responsible for training\, assessment\, accred itation and new programs within the anaesthesia program. He also provides oversight of the research foundation and the allocation of college funded research grants to fellows and trainees.\n\nPrevious appointments include the Clinical Education Fellows at the University of Melbourne Medical Scho ol\, Professor and Director of the Health Simulation Centre (HSC) at Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Perth and as the Director of Medical Education and Training at St Vincent’s Hospital\, Melbourne.\n\nHe holds both Doctor al and Master’s degrees in Education focusing on adult learning in the con text of ongoing professional learning for educators. He has worked extensi vely in medical education and simulation development and has lead projects that developed simulation instructor programs that have utilised simulati on to teach clinical and non-clinical skills.\n\nHe has undertaken extensi ve advisory work with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) on developing professional skills in surgical aspirants\, trainees and fello ws through a range of programs including TIPS and NOTSS. Robert was also t he education lead for the Implementation of the Building Respect and Impro ving Patient Safety Project which has been initiated as a result of the ex tensive External Advisory Groups study into Bullying and Harassment in the Surgical Profession.\n\nHis major research and development interests are in improving outcomes in health through the use of non-technical skills tr aining and developing professional skills for clinicians.
