 ucation\n\nAbstract: Becoming a healthcare professional has long been a pr
 ocess marked by obedience and compliance with the systems and cultures of 
 medicine. More recently\, there has been a growing focus on resilience of 
 trainees and practitioners to withstand the stressors of professional prac
 tice. Sometimes resilience is not the answer\; sometimes injustice and ine
 ptitude need to be challenged and resisted. However\, despite its tacit pr
 esence\, professional resistance has had little or no formal recognition w
 ithin academic medicine. In this session\, Dr. Ellaway will outline concep
 ts of professional resistance and the ways in which they can and should be
  woven into the cultures of medicine.\n
