We will co ntact you with the new date when it has been arranged.\n\nAGENDA (Via Zoom )\n\nDr. Laura Nimmon - Social Network Theory in Interprofessional Educati on\n Associate Professor\, Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy\n Fac ulty of Medicine Scientist\, Centre for Health Education Scholarship\n Univ ersity of British Columbia\n\nLaura Nimmon is an Associate Professor in th e Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy and Scientis t at the Centre for Health Education Scholarship\, Faculty of Medicine\, U niversity of British Columbia.\n \n Dr. Nimmon’s primary research interest i s in making the influence of social networks visible within the educationa l and clinical practices of the health professions. Her work expands conce ptualizations of technical expertise to encompass relational expertise tha t enables health practitioners to learn more effectively and respond more sensitively when interacting with patients and colleagues. Using contempor ary social network theories and critical theories\, Dr. Nimmon’s research explores inter-related themes\, including: (1) How formal (instructors\, s upervisors) and informal (peers\, friends\, family) social networks influe nce learning and well-being across the continuum of health professions edu cation and practice\, and (2) How practitioner and patient social networks interface to shape the meaning and experience of healthcare.\n \n Dr. Nimmo n also brings new social theories to bear on pressing questions in the fie ld. She translates and applies these theories for others to see anew and e nlarge their own scholarly approaches to learning and practice.\n \n Dr. Nim mon is an award-winning researcher and mentor.
