In 2019 he was one of three recipients of the OTIP Teaching Awa rd for his contributions to curriculum development\, Black centred pedagog y\, and his work bringing principles of transformative justice to the clas sroom.\n\nLeRoi is a co-founder and director of Freedom School - Toronto\, a free\, three week program for children aged four to ten that was create d in response to a lack of humanizing\, self-affirming\, queer-positive ed ucational opportunities for Black children in the GTA.
