She shows how technologies are provi ding new opportunities for communication and connection\, while simultaneo usly deepening existing problems associated with isolation\, global inequi ty\, and environmental harm. By offering a reading of digital technologies as 'more-than-real'\, the author argues that the productive and destructi ve possibilities of digital geographies are changing important aspects of human and non-human worlds. Like the more-than-human notion and how it emp hasises interconnections of humans and non-humans in the world\, the more- than-real inverts the diminishing that accompanies use of the terms 'virtu al' and 'immaterial' as applied to digital spaces.\n\nJess McLean does res earch on how humans\, more-than-humans\, environments and technologies int eract to produce geographies of change. Her research focuses on digital te chnologies\, feminist geographies\, water politics\, climate action and ac tivism. She is a Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University where she current ly teaches Anthropocene politics\, planning placements\, and Indigenous ge ographies. Her book Changing Digital Geographies: Technologies\, Environme nts and People was published in 2020 and she is co-Editor-in-Chief of the Digital Geography and Society journal.\n\nThis event is part of the 2nd Se ason of the Feminist and Accessible Publishing and Communications Technolo gies Speaker and Workshop Series (https://www.feministandaccessiblepublish ingandtechnology.com)\, organized by Dr. Alex Ketchum.
