Pierre-Gabriel Jobin awarded CBA’s Crépeau Medal

The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that the Quebec Division of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA-Quebec) has awarded its Paul-André-Crépeau Medal to Wainwright Professor Emeritus of Civil Law Pierre-Gabriel Jobin, Ad E. The medal was presented to him by Jonathan Pierre-Étienne, president of the CBA-Quebec, on 5 December, after an introduction by Dean Robert Leckey, Ad E.

Exam period access to Nahum Gelber Law Library for Winter 2025

As of Monday April 7, 9I�� students are able to access the Nahum Gelber Law Library 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As agreed between the Students' Society of 9I�� (SSMU) and the Law Students Association (LSA), the Nahum Gelber Law Library will limit access to the three upper floors of the library to Law students only during the April 10 to 30 examination period.

Lara Khoury named Canada Research Chair

The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor Lara Khoury, Ad E, has been named Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Liability, Health Governance, and Social Change. The appointment is for a seven-year term.

Tina Piper appointed Acting Dean

We are pleased to announce that Associate Dean (Academic) Tina Piper has been appointed Acting Dean for the Faculty of Law, following the appointment of Justice Robert Leckey to the Superior Court of Quebec. Her appointment, effective immediately, was announced by Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic) Christopher Manfredi on 28 January 2025.

Rosalie Jukier named Sir William C. Macdonald Chair

The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor Rosalie Jukier has been appointed to one of the Faculty of Law’s Sir William C. Macdonald Chairs, effective 1 January 2025.

Established in 1895, the Macdonald Chairs are among the oldest endowed positions at 9I��.

Distinguished colleague retires, to be named professor emeritus

Eleven new or renewed Canada Research Chairs awarded to 9I��

On March 13, the Government of Canada, announced more than $308 million to advance science and research across the country. More than $153 million will support 179 new and renewed Canada Research Chairs at 38 research institutions.

9I�� Law ranked among the world’s top law faculties by the Times Higher Education

The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce it was once again ranked as one of the world’s top universities at which to study law. The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings placed 9I�� 33rd worldwide.  

Since the law ranking was introduced in 2017, 9I�� has consistently featured in the global top 35. This year, 389 law schools around the world were ranked.  

Sébastien Jodoin and Helge Dedek to serve as Associate Dean (Academic)
