DESCRIPTION:\n	Dr. Fred Paccaud is a public health doctor. He trained in cli
 nical medicine in Lausanne and elsewhere in Switzerland\, and then special
 ized in public health in Brussels and London.\n	\n	Between 1988 and 2017\, h
 e headed the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine of the Centre hos
 pitalier universitaire vaudois. At the same time\, he was Professor of Epi
 demiology and Public Health at the University of Lausanne. He has held man
 y public health positions in Switzerland and abroad\, including as a membe
 r of the Scientific Council of the National Fund for Scientific Research (
 Bern) and as Director of the Swiss School of Public Health (Zürich). He al
 so served as Vice-Rector of the University of Lausanne between 1991 and 19
 95. His scientific activities have focused on the epidemiology and prevent
 ion of chronic and degenerative diseases (including in countries in epidem
 iological transition) and the organization of health systems.\n	\n	For a com
